Ducking Hurricanes In The BVIs

Now in the middle of the Atlantic hurricane season, and with hurricanes already named up to Fred, perhaps you're wondering what the bareboat charter companies do to prepare when they see a hurricane on the horizon.
Gino Morrelli, of the famed multihull design team of Morrelli and Melvin, snapped this photo of Parequita Bay on Tortola when the fleet was preparing for a hurricane. The entrance is narrow, and the boats are all secured to heavy cables, although no one really knows what would happen if a serious hurricane hit this particular "hurricane hole". Interestingly enough, many of the cats lined up in this bay are Morrelli and Melvin designs!
