BVIs Closed!

With the corona virus rampant, the BVIs have closed their borders to everyone except belongers, residents and work permit holders.  Effective Thurs, Mar 19, this means U.S. citizens are banned at this point.  There are only three ports of entry: Lettsome International Airport, plus the Road Town and West End ferry termians. This ban is indefinite, although cruise ships (currently banned) can start returning on April 19.

To our CharterSavvy readers, hunker down and be safe.  The crew at Charter Savvy.

Soper's Hole Re-opens!!

Soper's Hole Wharf & Marina, at the end of Tortola in Frenchman's Cay, is back in full operation after dealing with hurricane damage.  This is a wonderful place, whether you're leaving on a charter from the Voyage Charters fleet of catamarans at the docks or just enjoying an alfresco meal on the deck of a restaurant.  Ourfriends at BVI Traveler (www.bvitraveller.com) have a full list of what's open, but here are some highlights.

Voyage Charters is fully up and running with many new catamarans and more coming (see the latest CharterSavvy for details).  Pusser's store and restaurant (lunch and dinner) is oopen, as is Omar's Cafe (breakfast) and Omar's Fusion (lunch/dinner).  The Harbor Market has groceries, and there are enough shops to keep you browsing for hours.

BVI Bay Picked As One Of 10 "Bluest In World"

Departures, the magazine for American Express card holders, has picked Devil's Bay in the BVIs as one of the 10 "Bluest Waters" around the world.  If you don't recognize Devil's Bay, it's on Virgin Gorda and it's the cove you find after you climb through The Baths.  It's nearly surrounded by rocks, so it's calm even on breezy days and it's perfect for kids to enjoy as well as snorkelers.  Departures said it was difficult to get to, but they don't realize that part of the fun is climbing through the eerie caverns and pools of The Baths, and Devil's Bay is just the gem at the end of the trail.

Bitter End Is On The Rebound!!

After 20 months of demolition and cleanup from Hurricane Irma, the rebuilding of Bitter End YC is well underway.  The first element being developed is the marina village, long the heart and soul of Bitter End.

During the 2019-2020 season, all new world- class facilities including a two-story marina complex (shown) will feature an open-air lounge with spectacular views of North Sound and the setting sun, plus full bathing facilities and marina-wide WiFi.

Just north of the marina is the enhanced beach as well as the watersports center if Hobie Waves, Lasers, 420s, Sunfish, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and a new fleet of cutting edge water toys.

Over the coming months will come a casual beachfront bar and restaurant, an epicurean market, and the Bitter End retail shop.

Following the waterfront will come the resort redevelopment with unique accommodations and hospitality amenities.

Bareboaters Rejoice! Quito's Re-opens on Cane Garden Bay

Rebuilt (and improved) after the hurricanes, Quito's Gazebo on Cane Garden Bay in the BVIs re-opened on December 14th.  If you're lucky enough to be in the BVIs for New Year's, don't miss their Grand Re-opening on Old Years Night (New Year's Eve) where they will have a prix fixe menu (by reservation) inside and a casual beach barbecue, plus an array of music.

Quito's is famous for its daily performances of rock and reggae by local bands as well as owner and world-renown musician, Quito Rymer.  Quito's has always been known for being a place in the sun, with good food, sun sand, and great music.

Quito's Inn will also re-open in March, 2019, so if you want to get off the boat for a night or two, you can't go wrong with one of his 21 ocean front suites with kitchenettes, all named after Quito's songs.

Contact them at 284-495-4837.
